Welcome to Seneca, Oregon!

PPR is fast approaching and lots of hard work has gone into making your rendezvous experience a great one. I know the price of fuel has gone way up and Covid concerns are still at the forefront but I wanted to express my deep appreciation for those making the journey back in time. We have a nice schedule of events for you with a few surprises thrown in. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you and watching the lodges go up to create our little settlement. Safe travels and wagons ho my friends!

Sincerely,
Gloria Schmidt
2022 PPR Booshway

A note from your First-Aid Chief -

As we get the final items packed for our upcoming visit to the beautiful Seneca, I thought I’d make a note on conditions to prepare for.

Seneca has had a wet spring, this will mean A LOT of mosquitoes! Essential oils lemongrass and citronella are a great defense against mosquitoes, along with burning sage, and citronella incense. And don’t forget about ticks! Those buggers love to hunker down in places like the back of knees, waistline, and back of your neck! Keep an eye out, and visit the medical tent if you need supplies for tick or mosquito bite treatment.

Expect cold and damp temps overnight, and cooler daytime temps - approximate highs of 70° and lows of 49° (Very different from last PPR! Whew!).

Though it won’t be as hot as La Grande, please remember to stay hydrated, and care for your body while we enjoy the good ol’ time!

Please, if you can, give a bit of your time to be a Medical Volunteer! Our wonderful event relies on Volunteers! Without volunteers, we could never bring this all together! I look forward to seeing those I know, meeting those I don’t, and appreciate anyone who can volunteer time to the Medical team!

Wishing you good health,

Kirsten “Boots” - First-Aid Chief

SEMINARS:

“Each year the seminar program at PPR is one of the major highlights of the event and I want to thank all of the creative, generous people who have offered seminars at past PPRs, and invite you to participate again in 2022. If you’ve never offered a seminar before, I encourage you to give it a try as it’s a great way to make new friends and expand your own knowledge. We are looking forward to a great 2022 event!” —Erin “Two Hawks” Hess

For anyone wanting to present a seminar during this year’s event, fill out the application and send it to Erin “Two Hawks” Hess as soon as possible.

KID’S CORNER:

PPR 2022 is just around the corner!

I’m Smiles A Lot and I’m Kid’s Games Chief again! I love this job and rondy kids!

I’d like to give a big shout out to the Washington State Muzzle Loaders Association for again donating to teaching kids primitive skills! Their generosity has enabled us to purchase a tent and some accoutrements in the past to be used and given to our children.

My theory with our kids is that they want to learn. They crave knowledge. What we teach them at PPR isn’t taught in most schools so let’s make the most of it and create some lasting memories and skills with them. Our living history functions are an escape from electronic devices and the noises of the world. We have a week to shape their inquisitive minds and teach them some old ways.

Without giving too much away about my plans, I need some help with a few things. If you can help, let me know. I may add stuff if I cannot find what I need.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-

First, I need prizes. I would love to continue giving away tents and guns. If you know of anyone willing to gift them to us, that would be terrific. Or please look for some for sale.

  1. I need tent stakes (8)

  2. Any accoutrements that would help set up a camp for a Jr. ( maybe a peewee?)

  3. Helpers for daily tasks. (Many hands taking turns every day make this a success)

  4. Ground cloth for daily task ease. ( a big one or several small ones)

  5. Anyone interested in teaching a skill for an hour or so would be perfect. Contact me with your skill and let me know what you need to accomplish it.
